Kate grew up in Northern Va where she excelled in a variety of sports. She attended George Mason University where she studied Health and Physical Education and Exercise Science, then obtained her degree in teaching. She started her rowing career at George Mason University, where she rowed as a novice and varsity member; port, starboard, and coxswain.
After graduating, she continued her rowing career as a coach for Robinson High School and Occoquan Juniors Rowing camp. For seven years Kate has coached all levels on the women’s side at Robinson. She has successfully led her boats to the State finals each year and in 2011 the Women’s 2nd Varsity 8 placed 6th at the National Finals.

Ryan Harvey is a native of Virginia Beach and has graduated with honors from Frank W. Cox High School.
Ryan rowed all four years at Cox High School. He began his rowing career as a coxswain his freshman year. He was a sweep rower in the men’s eight and lightweight four during his sophomore, junior, and senior year. During his junior year the Men’s lightweight four placed 1st at EVSRA championships, 2nd in the state at Occoquan and 11th in the nation in Ohio. Senior year he rowed the lightweight double and received 2nd in the state at Occoquan. In addition to rowing the double, Ryan placed first in the Men’s lightweight four at the EVSRA championships.
Ryan spent his summers rowing for Virginia Beach Rowing Club where he learned to skull. He competed in the Youth Regatta and Independence Day Regatta in Philadelphia, PA. He also went to Club Nationals in Bethel Ohio to compete in the men’s double where he placed 13th overall.
Ryan is currently enrolled at Tidewater Community College pursuing a degree in Business. He loves coaching and passing on his passion for the sport.
